Biosketch: Jia Lu

Jia Lu is a doctoral student at the Division of Learning, Communication, and IT of the Department of Applied Information Technology. She has a background as a university teacher in English pedagogy in China. She has one master degree in English Linguistics of Uppsala University and another master degree in Communication of the University of Gothenburg. Now her PhD research project is to study how ICT changes the way people communicate, to be specific, the communication patterns of understanding. She compares face-to-face and video-mediated communications between first encounters and acquaintances collaboration contexts. Her research interests include communication technology, multimodal and interpersonal communication, collaborative task solving and learning, video and audio data analysis, dialogical approach to learning and communication, cognitive linguistics, academic writing, and supervision in higher education.
