Biosketch: Göran Karlsson

Having been a part-time PhD student since 2005, I defended my doctoral thesis in Applied Information Technology at Gothenburg University in March 2012. My research interest lies in learners’ interactions and knowledge constructions in their interpretational work with instructional technologies. This interest includes advancing the practice of science education through design-based research on technologies for illustrating scientific concepts. I have designed and researched an educational web application for illustrating the carbon cycle. I have also been engaged in the Bio-HOPE project, a bilateral cooperation between Stanford University and the University of Gothenburg. In this project, which has the purpose of developing and providing free on-line biology teaching resources for school and university students, I have been involved in the development of a virtual laboratory. Currently, I am working to analyse material from this project.
