Biosketch: Dr. Torbjörn Ott

Torbjörn Ott is a Doctoral student at the department of applied IT and within the Research School at the Center for Educational Science and Teacher Research (CUL). He has a background as teacher in history and swedish in the upper secondary school. He also has a Master of Arts (60 credits) with a major in history, researching the municipal politics in Strömstad, surrounding the establishment of an offshore industry between 1973-1976.

Torbjörns PhD project is to research how a new technology can be integrated into the learning context of the classroom. The technology in question is the mobile phone. As a technology it is a part of the field of mobile-IT and together with a.o. tablets and laptops they are the technologies for mobile learning.

Torbjörn is researching what happens when the technology encounters with the school system. One branch of the issue, that Torbjörn has been researching, is how mobile phones in school has been presented in the public debate.
