Biosketch: Dr. Gun-Britt Wärvik

Research interest

My research interest concerns learning in contemporary society and political aspects of pedagogical phenomena, especially within the areas of lifelong learning and politics of expertise. This includes the study of institutional change and governing technologies related to notions of performance and competence. These kinds of situated processes are far from neutral; they point out and single out, they are distributive, controlling etc in the ways they are used and in the making of professional groups. In other words, they produce significant differences. Currently I am involved in the research project "Professional Knowledge in Schools and Health Care".
