Biosketch: Anna-Carin Ramsten

My background is as a Master of Philosophy at The Tema Institute, Linköping University 1997. My main research interests concern the transformation of workinglife, especially the implications of new technology for work practices. The preliminary title of my dissertation is "Changes of Technology in the Manufacturing Industry". The aim is to study how new technology like (I&C-systems) is introduced into the production but also how the knowing of workers is transformed in such new work environment. What are the roles played by employers and unions in such transformations of activity systems. Another interest concerns the increased use of different forms of texts in workinglife, such as handbooks and instructions, as mediating tools to coordinate different activities.
