Planning fieldwork

All of the people working in the video lab have experience from collecting video and audio data in the field, which means that the lab can provide you with helpful information about what to think about when planning your fieldwork.

Generation of data

Equipment such as video cameras, microphones, tripods and audio recorders can be borrowed for generating data during your field work. It is important that you inform Elin about your plans as far in advance as possible so that we can help you getting the best support and equipment suiting your particular needs.

The video lab can also offer technical assistance to some extent during your fieldwork. This resource is quite limited though, so again it is important that you inform Elin about your coming needs as far in advance as possible.

After production

The video lab is equipped with two work stations where you can:

  • Transfer your data from miniDV-tape, minidisc, VHS, Hi8 and Two people working with video dataother sources to the computer
  • Converting and compressing raw material to more convenient file formats for showing in a public presentation or for the purpose of analyse
  • Edit your video material such as creating side by side video effects, making still images from video, cutting and/or correcting video and sound
  • Transcribe and subtitle your video data.
